There's something extra special about a museum that doesn't charge admission. You don't have to quietly do arithmetic in front of the window while you peek in and try to figure out whether or not it's worth the price of the ticket. You can simply wander inside and take a chance, which is often the beginning of the greatest experiences. Such is the sort at the Opelousas Museum in Opelousas, Louisiana, which has been free to the public since the doors opened in 1992.

Simply park, mosey inside, and spend as much time as you'd like. Since there's no ticket cost, you can always step out, grab lunch, and go back later. Hours, on the other hand, are a little more varied than the ticket prices, or thereof. For all the info about Opelousas Museum Prices and Hours, check out the table below.
Absolutely free.
Donations are accepted and they go to the historic building's maintenance, programming, new exhibits, and community events. If you spend an hour in the museum and find it an enriching experience, we encourage you to leave a donation of your choosing.
