African American Museum in Saint Martinville Celebrates Black History Month by Honoring Local Families and Trailblazers. Join us this Black History Month as we celebrate the stories that unite us and honor the families who continue to shape our community and our world. Each year, Black History Month serves as a time to honor the achievements and contributions of African Americans across the United States. This February, the African American Museum in Saint Martinville will pay special tribute to local families who have made lasting impacts in politics, music, education, and more. With a theme of “Honoring Our Roots, Celebrating Our Families”, the museum will host a month-long celebration featuring events every Friday and Saturday, starting February 1st. Designed for all ages, these activities will include: Film Screenings: Showcasing stories of African American resilience and triumph. Storytelling Sessions: Bringing our history to life through the voices of our community Genealogy: A space for families to share their roots and discuss their unique legacies. “Black History Month is a time to reflect on the trailblazers who paved the way for us today. This year, we’re proud to shine a light on the families in our community who have made remarkable contributions”, said Director Danielle Fontenette, of the African American Museum. The museum invites the public to join in this celebration of heritage and unity. Whether you’re exploring your own family history or learning about the accomplishments of others, these events offer an opportunity to connect, educate, and inspire.
